Sri Sathya Sai Rural Vocational Training Center for Women, Dharwar
As part of the National Initiative for commemorating Bhagawan’s 90th Birthday, Sri Sathya Sai Vocational Training Centre for Women was set up at Dharwar. While in other states it has been started for gents, Bhagawan in His unbound love has blessed Karnataka to start it for women from rural sector – particularly from the SSSVIP villages. It provides training to young women from the SSSVIP villages in Tailoring, Ethnic Cooking, Home Nursing and Mehandi drawing, which is becoming quite popular and has good demand not only in cities but also in small towns. The trained women will be able to gainfully employ themselves and add to the family income.
With the Divine Grace and blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Saibaba Varu, VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE FOR WOMEN was inaugurated on Thursday, 9th October, 2014 at College for Women, DHARWAR, by Sri.Nagesh G.Dhakappa, State President. All India President has sent his special message and blessings for the success of the Center. To begin with, the Training is being offered in Fabric Designing; training in Ethnic Cooking and Home Nursing will be started shortly. The Training Programmes, of three months duration, are aimed at creating good job opportunities for the trainees.
Excellent arrangements have been made for their stay and food. The classes are conducted in a large class room with another room serving as practical training centre at the Home Science College for Women, Dharwar. A separate premises right across the road has been taken on rent for the hostel facilities. The hostel has been well furnished with cots and mattresses, refrigerator and geyser facility in the bathroom. The trainees were provided with good, free accommodation and food, and all the raw material required for the training. The entire programme is totally free.
Though it was proposed to commence with 10 women trainees, actually 12 women volunteered to undergo the three month programme.
The first batch completed their training successfully and the Valedictory function of the first batch of trainees was held on 4th January 2015 at Sri Sathya Sai Mandir, Saptapur, Dharwar. The function was presided over by Sri.B.E.Navalli, District President and Smt. Laxmi Bai Tammanagoudar, Zila Panchayat Gadag was the chief guest. All the trainees were awarded Certificates and presented momentos and gifts. A cultural programme was presented by the trainees and an exhibition of dresses made by them was also held. They had the privilege of being presented with their certificates in Divine Presence at Samadhi, Prasanthi Nilayam. They were also presented with Sai Literature as gifts.
The second batch Commenced in April. The second batch of students also numbered 12. The trainees were provided with dress material from which they designed and prepared their uniform dress and wore it for the valedictory function.
The 3rd Batch of Trainees successfully completed their course with a valedictory function on 30.9.2015.
There is a growing demand for starting the courses in the other two areas of Ethnic food cooking and Home Nursing.
