The third edition of the Sri Sathya Sai Veda Poshana Workshop was conducted at Sai Gitanjali, J.P.Nagar, Bangalore on 27th September 2016, the first two editions having been held at Brindavan Ashram, Kadugodi, Bangalore. The central theme of this workshop was Durga Suktam and Medha Suktam. There participants covered certified Vedam trainers, aspiring Vedam trainers and all other aspirants desirous of learning Vedam. The participants were taught various aspects that included an awareness on the Science behind the Vedam, awareness on the deeper significance of the Durga Suktam and Medha Suktam and art of teaching Vedam.

The workshop was presided over by the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. M A Lakshmithathachar and several eminent mentors, leaders and guests including Sri. N Sudhindran, Sri. Venkataramana Gosavi, Sri. G R Praveena, Dr. H S Ashwath, Sri. Naveen Sathiyanathan, Sri. D V Chandrashekar, Sri. Subramanian N S, Sri. Ganesh, Sri Bhargav, Sri Sai Chandrashekar and Sri Sundar Anatharaman. The workshop had over 130 participants across Karnataka with Vedam chanting guests from Japan as well.

The workshop commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp and chanting of Vedam invoking the Grace of our beloved Bhagawan. Subramanian N S, joint state spiritual coordinator (Vedas) addressed the gathering with a welcome address covering the purpose and roadmap for Sri Sathya Sai Veda Poshana.

The keynote address on The Science behind the Vedas was delivered by Prof. Dr. M A Lakshmithathachar, Head of Samskriti Foundation (www.samskrti.org) at Mysore. Professor is a traditional Sanskrit scholar who specializes in all the Indian Knowledge systems. He has dedicated his life to prove to the world the modern relevance of these knowledge systems to fields as varied as Information technology, agriculture, horticulture and so on. He has edited / authored more than 100 various publications. He has taught at the Post Graduate and doctoral levels and established several institutes of national and international repute. His talk covered the various scientific aspects of Vedas and its significance and the importance of spreading the Vedas in today’s world.

This was followed by a talk on the insights and relevance of Durga Suktam and Medha Suktam in daily life by Sri. N Sudhindran, an alumnus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. He had the good fortune of leading the Vedam chanting group in the Prashanthi Mandir. He also had the boon of serving Swami in the Yajur Mandir from 2008 till Mahasamadhi.

After the two enlightening talks, the groups were split for technical breakout sessions. The sessions covered the art of Vedam teaching for certified trainers, correctness of chanting for aspiring trainers and learning of the Durga Suktam and the Medha Suktam for the aspirants desirous of learning Vedam. The sessions were conducted by eminent Vedam Gurus of the Organization.

There was lunch Prasadam served to the participants, which was beautifully organized by Sai Sparshan, Koramangala.

In the afternoon the workshop resumed with a mindboggling quiz based on Vedas chaired by Sri Manoj Gadi and Team. The quiz covered various aspects on general knowledge of the Vedas, Swami’s messages on Vedas and important Vedic events conducted by Swami.

The workshop concluded with Vote of Thanks followed by Mahamangalarathi.
